Sorry for the lack of updates! At least the reason is because things have been so crazy with filming! We have a little over a week to go of shooting exteriors and with each day that passes I get more and more excited to see the finished product, and show it to all of you.
In the meantime here are some BTS update vids you may have missed:
We wrapped block one of shooting Season 2 about a week ago and it is weird not being on set all the time. I miss it like crazy, although I’m sure everyone is appreciating the sleep.
Filming picks up again mid-May for exterior shots (assuming Montreal weather decides to cooperate, *ahem*). In the meantime, here are all the behind-the-scenes videos we took during the April shoot.
We’re three days into Season 2’s shoot and everyone is enjoying a well-deserved few days off. Man, do we have a dynamite crew! Everyone is doing such a stellar job. We’re wrapping on time, the shots are looking incredible and the people are absolutely lovely. It’s such a joy to be involved in a project where I can’t wait to arrive on set everyday.
That is one punchable happy face.
Since we’ve been pretty swamped with filming I’ve been neglecting giving updates on media coverage. So here’s a big whack of ’em now:
Backstage Magazine did an interview with Julian and I: “Even without the recent push from the YouTube giant, the series’ first season looks high-budget. It’s beautifully shot…with great sound…and professionally constructed LARPing costumes.”
AND one of our favorite vloggers, Mo Mo O’Brien, made a video about us and why people should donate to our Indiegogo campaign. (psst, if we hit 40K we can dare her to do 5 things):
Speaking of Indiegogo, tomorrow is the last day of the campaign. We exceeded our initial goal of $30,000, which is just incredible. We cannot thank those who have donated, shared and supported us enough. We are so so SO close to 40K. It would mean the world to us to hit this milestone. Can we?
There has been reveling, caroling and general merrymaking. But here’s the best part: we’re only halfway through our campaign. We’ve announced some amazing stretch goals that are so close I can taste ’em (especially because the 40K level involves many libations).
Click on the image to check out the campaign and the stretch goals we just revealed. An enormous thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!
I’m back. And it was AWESOME. The weather was gorgeous (take a hint, Montreal), the people were wonderful and the shows were top-notch. I haven’t gotten the chance to check out too many fests up until now but this was definitely one of the best run so far. Not only were there no technical or scheduling hiccups but the organizers were an absolute joy. They must have been stressing out internally but all we got on the outside were smiles and warmth. They were never too busy to stop and chat. The atmosphere was lovely and inviting and I’m so so glad I was able to make it out.
Oh, and then this happened:
Pretty damn amaze-balls. Here are some photos from the weekend:
While in Victoria I got to meet up with the delightful Kaie of “Foam and Steel”, another LARPing series coming soon!

I bonded with a falcon.
Cool as a cucumber.
Then there was this tortoise.
And a wolf. Yeah.
Cuddly.
My new spirit animal.
Post-screening Q&A
With Jay Irwin of “Chop Socky Boom”. Although we only met on the last night of the fest we made up for it by singing Monty Python’s “The Lumberjack Song” together post-award ceremony.
Can you tell I loooooove it?
Thanks for the wonderful weekend, Vancouver WebFest!
Our crowdfunding campaign launches tomorrow and I’ll be sure to post the link when it’s live. In the meantime the team has been sharing messages of thanks to our fans because we LOOOOOOOOVE you! Here’s one of mine:
Last week we were contacted by the lovely Lauren Middleton to do an interview for her blog, The Mod Building. Ben and I were happy to take part, since her site is a fantastic resource for experienced LARPers or those looking at getting into it.
Check out the interview here and make sure you explore the rest of her site! Thanks for reaching out, Lauren!
