What the heck is Julian up to?

Our beloved director, Julian Stamboulieh, has been living it up this week in Salt Lake City at FanCon/FilmQuest (we’re an official selection of the film fest and have several nominations under our belt). He’ll be back in Montreal following our screening on Saturday and the awards ceremony, but we’ve been able to keep up with his exploits thanks to the wonders of Twitter and Instagram.

Julian? That’s your cue:

And for photos you’ll need to jet over to the Instagram page, because apparently I can’t figure out how to embed images here. Enjoyyyyy.

Latest “Man Of The Hour”

This week Episode 5 (“XP”) was examined. Read full write-up here.

“Although I would readily confess to a complete ignorance of all things LARP, I still find myself perfectly able to write favorably and even admiringly of the series—and, I suspect, therein lies the genius of LARPs.”

” …LARPs employs its winning formula once again, oscillating back and forth in a happy juxtaposition between funny and tender.”

In other news, Julian is heading off to Salt Lake City for FilmQuest!

Could I be any happier or more excited for him? Doubtful. Inside am I seething with jealousy at not being able to go? No comment.

Steph’s LA Weekly Web Series Pick of the Week: LARPs: The Series

We were Stephanie Carrie’s LA Weekly Web Series Pick of the Week AND she interviewed Jon and Julian for “The Tangled Web We Watch”!

Following in the footsteps of Felicia Day’s hit web series The Guild, sleek, smart Canadian web series LARPs brings to life an endearing cast of characters from yet another oft-ridiculed ‘nerd’ sub-culture: Live Action Role Playing.

Hollywood loves to throw a LARPer into the cast whenever they need an aspersers nerdy escapist, ie Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Role Models, but the LARPing community of hundreds of thousands in the  US alone is, of course, far more nuanced. Have you been keeping up with the podcast?

Huh? HAVE YOU???

More episodes have been added, each more scandalous than the last. Check out the latest one, it may or may not feature yours truly and Scott Humphrey. We may or may not disgrace the show, embarrass our fellow cast and crew mates, and reveal secrets that should have been taken to our graves. Maybe. I can’t be too sure… It’s a hoot ‘n’ holler, regardless!
